No one is mentioning that the Fed and Treasury working in tandem or virtually alone can continue with a non-legislative bailout until Congress realizes that they are essentially neutered by existing law - stupid and irrelevant in the modern age of Global finance that is out of control. I agree. I can never get people to understand that the mortgage bubble and later bust, were caused by two principle actions. One, budget deficits resulting from the Bush tax cuts. This requires the government to borrow funds to cover the deficit. Two, the Fed Reserve unprecedented Fed Fund Rate of one percent. Tax cuts and lower interest rates, are bad fiscal policies at this time. We need to have a balanced budget, and rein in the money supply.
