i already saw this movie...good movie over all but why did milos forman put a mexican actor to play a kazakh hero??? main actors are not kazakh and it's supposed to be a kazakh movie...didn't seem genuine to me..

The Kazakh government was probably worried that if they didn't portray their national heroes in a more attractive light, that it might affect their PR and would hinder foreign investment into their country. That's why they shelled out $40-mill for the production. Unfortunately, it only made $79,123.
Too bad there isn't a mexican stand off here :D
