I'm glad that you are being thoughtful about your choices and weighing the options. I personally just do not trust Obama to be what he says he is. I like his original message, but with the Rev. Wright, his wife's comments, his small town America comments I am seeing someone who is quite different from the rhetoric. This is happening because some of the media is finally digging deeper. What else is there to be revealed. Thanks for your insights.

Not really. I'm not at all happy with many things that have been happening with the govt over the last 7 years. I'm not bitter though and I dont turn to bigotry or religion or guns as Obama seems to think. I have great belief in my fellow Americans and in our great country, especially when our leaders have failed us. Obama does not speak for me, he speaks down to me and I think we've all had enough of that over the past 7 years.

first of all, I dont think he was putting down small town america. If you listened to the whole context, he started it off by defending small town america. He was asked a question on why he wasnt getting their votes with an implication about his race, and he said unequivocaly that race has NOTHING to do with it. He then mangled the the next part, but he meant that economically they vote against their self-interest because they believe its pure BS, and vote instead on other issues (ie. guns)

also...this isnt some private elitist thing..I am from Iowa, and he said it here in a town hall meeting...he said on the Charlie Rose Show in 2004, there is a youtube video of it...look it up. He has said this in PUBLIC NUMEROUS times...tying in small america and what he thinks are the voting patterns to try and win their votes...that specifically he will have to win them over ecomically or else they vote on republican dominated issues, like religion, like guns. A democrat cant win that battle.

Are you not resentful or cynical of the government, these words also mean bitter. And many people, when hard times hit cling to religion because that's all they have left. And a few do resent others. You list all the times Obama said his "small town America" comments in which he was in public. The current comments were made in more private setting and I believe represent his true feelings amongst like minded ppl. That is the issue with him-public v. private reality. Many of his supporters are playing "armchair" therapists and repeating what they think he "meant". He can articulate his views nicely and he did so in San Francisco-luckily someone had a recorder.

In his comments(made in private)he puts forth that "those people" tend to cling to antipathy towards others unlike them and anti-immigrant sentiments(things you shouldnt cling to)and then goes onto list the other things "they also cling to" like religion and guns. It is erroneous to make a broad generalization based on exceptions. There are some bigotted white ppl, but all whites are not bigots. The condescending part was that he treated religion as a "crutch" for the "ignorant" "rest of us". He doesnt include himself and his SF elitist friends. Actually, it's not sticking at all. Hillary got "booed" because she continues to bring up this nonsense, and his poll numbers in PA have remained unchanged. Moreover, he's gained ground in Indiana.
