I'm not sure I understand, I mean clear it up for me... How does she sound bad? Is it that she sounds bad or you don't like her stylistic choices. I'm almost CERTAIN that she sounds quite good, though I'm not certain I like some of the things she does. Comments like that make you say- hmmmmmmm

This recording was clearly made with a cameraphone which we all know was likely equipped with a state of of the art sound-capturing device. Norman's voice is huge, and she is 61 years old. Her voice here sounds quite rich to me even with the poor audio. See ignorant manner of describing ANY performance: "a hot mess".

yep, the sound is not that good because I recorded using a photo camera Canon Powershot G5. It's not professional material, plese! And I'd love to sing 1/10 of the way she sings. :)
