In which I pit a Standard (Made in Mexico) Fender Stratocaster against a chinese-made Affinity Series Squier Strat. I'm trying to decide once and for all which one I like better. You'd think it'd be a slam dunk for Fender, but their bargain-brand model has a lot going for it too, like twang that won't quit.
A better comparison would have been a Mexican Strat vs. an American one, but somebody wouldn't let me spend my family's economic stimulus check on one!
My conclusion: they are almost neck and neck, but I prefer the Fender, obviously. But Squiers are pretty decent - I have lots of videos on here where I'm playing that one.
That is a Vox AD50VT amp I'm playing through with a variety of clean and distorted settings. This whole video is really just six minutes of mindless self-indulgence and an excuse for me to go wheedly-wheedly-whee and convince guitar geeks to watch it.
