To the person who impolitely asked if I "took only the antlers," the answer is "of course not." Salvaging the edible meat is the law in Alaska and it is strictly enforced by huge fines. A large percentage of Alaskans and hunters in general, myself included, get a large part of our annual diet from wild game. People who "only take the antlers" are to hunting what bank robbers are to bank patrons, rare and despised.
