The F-16 Fighter Interceptor, frequently called the Fighting Falcon aka Viper, joined the Air Force on August 17th, 1978.
F-16 Fighters were scrambled over Washington DC on September 11th, 2001 and one F-16 has been sent to the 911 Display at McCord AFB in Tacoma, Washington. The Comments Section is open, your welcome to add your facts!

I don't understand the title of this video - "1500 MPH Fighter". No version or block number of the F-16 is capable of routine 1500 MPH flight. An F-16 could possibly reach that speed in a dive, but it would be extremely dangerous. 1,320 MPH is pretty much the F-16's top (dash) speed, and that's what it was designed for. There's really no need for much greater speed anyway, since most jet fighter engagements (with "classic" dogfighting) are still well below subsonic.

MIG 25 said to be copied from RA-5C Vigilante, which i think so too and it's quite obvious too by just comparing the two. also mig25 reaching mach 4 has no proof but it did exceed mach 3 only at sustained amounts of time. the f16 could easily outmaneuver the mig 25 in low speed dog fights but when it comes to fast straight aways it wouldn't stand a chance. so mig25 is only good for one pass intercepts or bombings.

I have seen two of them flying. Completely silent and not contrail. I saw two of them (black triangles) in Norfolk UK. There is a US Airfarce base nearby.

Stop comparing jet fighters by their maximum - high altitude - speed. If you want speed, read about space rockets. Just to maintain orbit they must travel at about 28,000 km/h (around 17,413 mph, about M 23 at MSL). So the higher you go, the faster you can go. Don't think that an F-16 or F-15 can reach M 2+ at or near sea level. They'll desintegrate if their engines were powerful enough to reach that kind of speed.

Oh...and one more thing! In aviation there are 3 kinds of speeds: Calibrated Air Speed, Ground Speed and True Air Speed. What you are talking about when saying "1500 mph" plane is a GS. And the F-16 can do more than 1500 mph. It can fly at 1500 knots (1727 mph, M 2.2 at MSL) GS while over FL300.

In jet fighter aviation, the more important parameter than max speed is the corner speed. This is the speed at witch the plane meets the highest turn ratio with the lowest turn radius (turn fast and short). That's the parameter that will keep you alive in a dogfight.

Unlikely - they were flying at an altitide of at least 4,000AGL. Also one was leading and the other was flying chase. They both pulled a left 45 degree turn just above me.
