What can I say? ... ( 5 months ago by hajime2k)
What can I say? Borg was the trend-setter in many ways. 2HBH grip, heavy topspin from both wings, level of fitness, the look of a rebel just to name a few. I didn't even notice that shot in the clip. Nice catch. Nadal admitted he's seen Borg matches on grass, so maybe he got that from him.

I debated about ... ( 3 months ago by hajime2k)
I debated about Hewitt. His backhand is good, but I just think his main weapon was keeping the ball in play, controlling court position, and all-out grinding. I left out Courier and he has 4 slams vs Hewitt's 2. Bruguera had arguably a better backhand than Hewitt and I left him out as well. I'm thinking of making a sequel video. If I do, Hewitt will make that list.
since the owner of ... ( 3 months ago by m0613525)
since the owner of the vid says 2h backhand is better than 1h, how come all players that dominate the first place for a long time in atp all use single-handed backhands? (example: sampras, federer..)
By your logic, ... ( 3 months ago by hajime2k)
By your logic, players should just serve and volley all day, hit no topspin, run around the backhand, and use wood racquets as most of your 1H backhand legends did so. The 2HBH has only been utilized since the 1970s while tennis has been around since the 1870s. Nice 100 year head start for the 1HBH. Borg (mentioned among the greatest) has 11 majors, Connors (only man to win USO on 3 surfaces) and Agassi (only man with a career golden slam) 8, Wilander 7, Nadal 5 (and climbing).

2k, I am just pointing out that serve and volley is a good techique that players should use a bit more serve and volley these days, this makes pro tennis to watch alongside with the wonderful baseline rallies. I play tennis since i am 6 myself (im now 14) and i use server and volley sometimes and it always proved to be working. I play my bh single handed and i am now trying to learn federer's backhand passes (60% success at the moment)
sampras owned in a ... ( 2 months ago by oodaboodara)
sampras owned in a time where serve and volley worked better( ala faster surfaces all throughout the season). Now most if not all surfaces are getting slowed down with with grainier sand and such being mixed into the courts. So now rallying is top dog, and federer was great when nadal and djokovic weren't there, but now that rallying has officially taken over with the slowing down of surfaces, it IS much easier to stay in a long rally with a 2 handed backhand because of their steadiness(2 arms)

I remember when I started to watch tennis on tv ('86)... I "felt in love" for Mats Wilander... and his backhand... I remember '88 when he used to pass all his opponents with is 2h backand... and I can't forget the Swedishkiller "Gattone" (as we called him in Italy) Mecir... maybe his 2h backhand was a little bit odd; he could hide the ball trajectory better than other ... sorry for my english
you get more power, ... ( 1 month ago by Mrphamsaid)
you get more power, control, and flater shot with one hand. Less topspin the better.
You're entitled to ... ( 1 month ago by hajime2k)
You're entitled to your opinion, but have you been watching tennis lately? The 2HBH typically has better control. The 1HBH can hit the ball with pace, but the ideal point of contact is high and far out in front. The 1HBH must hit the ball early, so the player often is going to slice the ball due to lack of time to prepare and hit a topspin backhand. 1HBH is usually more error prone. You need topspin from both sides these days. The 2HBH makes it easier to hit with topspin on a regular basis.

I've tried both ... ( 2 weeks ago by Oreoclan)
I've tried both backhands, and seen some articles that try to analyze professional shots in terms of spin and pace and all that.
I'm a one hander, so there will probably be some bias. I feel they are better IF YOU HAVE THE SKILLS TO HANDLE IT! The one handed backhand actually generates MORE SPIN (that's what I've felt when hitting, and analysis of pro shots prove it). However, a two hander generates FAR MORE POWER. Control
goes to the two hander due to the later contact point.
Also, the two ... ( 2 weeks ago by Oreoclan)
Also, the two hander is more efficient and requires less preparation. But at the pro levels, this means NOTHING, other than that you can put some more mph on your shot consistently, which they do regardless. On serves this fact has some signifigance, but not a lot if you are THAT GOOD (Federer can return nearly as well as Agassi on the backhand side, but not as consistently).
However, one handers have much better variety and feel for the ball. You can't hit half volleys on the run otherwise.
Finally, I will add ... ( 2 weeks ago by Oreoclan)
Finally, I will add the fact that the type of shot you produce (spin, control, consistency, trajectory, and pace), is 100% dependent on the player's style. My two handed backhand is hit like Agassi and Safin, where it is hit much harder and flatter than someone like Nadal. Many people who hit two handers that I've seen are like this as well, but there are still those who hit it with lots of spin. And I've seen one handers hit very flat, but most of them are like me, and generate lots of spin.

As soon as I can ... ( 12 hours ago by hajime2k)
As soon as I can pony up some money for more RAM, I'll work on a few projects. With Simon, Murray, Del Potro, and Tsonga landing in the top 10 since this video came out and if I can somehow find the footage I'll go for adding more recent and past players. I've been thinking of putting together 2 more WTA videos so I guess I'll need to flip a coin to determine which one is next. Thanks for watching and your comments are more than welcome here.
