Again one of my prized possessions, from 1989, the full release coming the following year, Tammy Payne - FREE. What a record! Totally flawless vocals from Tammy on this one. Beware if you have any wine glasses in your area when you listen to this, as Tammy gets real high with the vocals. It is a cover of the classic jam from Deniece Williams. If i remember rightly, it was included in the Broadway series of tapes? This is the edit, the full extended version, sadly i lost in some club years ago! It happens! If i had a pound for every tune ive lost.....and so on.
Tammy Payne, from the fine city of Bristol in the UK has been around, what seems like forever. She can adapt her vocal to any beat or tune, and has been featured heavily on many tracks over the years, esp. with those artists, dj's and producers from her home city. Im gettin old now when i say, when i first listened to this track, i never imagined it would sound like 'old skool' one day. But thats what it does sound like. Proper old skool, the way it should sound, with the right chords, correct pitch, and of course, without Tammy's vocal, i could not imagine anybody else covering this fine track. Hat's off to Bristol's finest producers Smith and Mighty as always, who just have that knack of getting the best out of everyone whos on board. Classic record! They aint made like this anymore kids! Enjoy! For more info on Smith and Mighty, check out my "OLD SKOOL SOUL" playlist. Please comment and rate tunes/videos. For more videos/tunes, click on my USERNAME in blue, then click PLAYLISTS.
