REPORTER: I mean, you've talked a lot about freedom. I've heard you talk about freedom -- I think every time I've seen you.
GEORGE W. BUSH: Yes. REPORTER: And yet there are those who would say, look, let's take Guantanamo Bay and Abu Ghraib and rendition and all those things, and to them that is the, you know, the complete opposite of freedom. GEORGE W. BUSH: Of course if you want to slander America, you can look at
it one way. But you go down -- what you need to do -- I think I suggested you do this at a press conference -- if you go down to Guantanamo and take a look at how these prisoners are treated -- and they're working it through our court systems. We are a land of law. REPORTER: But the Supreme Cour
t have just said that -- you know, ruled against what you've been doing down there. GEORGE W. BUSH: But the district court didn't. And the appellate court didn't. REPORTER: The Supreme Court is supreme, isn't it? GEORGE W. BUSH: It is, and I accept their verdict. I don't agree with their verdic
t. And it's not what I was doing down there. This was a law passed by our United States Congress that I worked with the Congress to get passed and sign into law. REPORTER: But it looked like an attempt to bypass the Constitution, to a certain extent. GEORGE W. BUSH: This was a law passed, Adam.
We passed a law. Bypassing the Constitution means that we did something outside the bounds of the Constitution. We went to the Congress and got a piece of legislation passed. REPORTER: Which is now being struck down, I think. GEORGE W. BUSH: It is, and I accept what the Supreme Court did, and I
necessarily don't have to agree with it. My only point to you is, is that yes, I mean, we certainly wish Abu Ghraib hadn't happened, but that should not reflect America. This was the actions of some soldiers. ______ Help place the blame where it belongs -- on George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, Condo
leezza Rice, David Addington, Stephen Hadley, etc. -- at http://www.michaelmoore.com/

I think there is an ... ( 2 months ago by KamikazeKoscki)
I think there is an opportunity like none other for America to see exactly how and why 9/11 came to pass and also what we can and should do about it. Astronauts have described their unique perspective in space looking at the fragile earth as being on God's porch. So it is perhaps no suprise that it was Apollo 17 astronaut-turned-senator Harrison Schmitt whose brave stand for terror-free air travel was the inspiration behind my efforts to stop both the 9/11 and 8/11/06 terror plots.

Jeez I'm having trouble figuring this guy out, even after 8 years. Is he just simply a part of the conservative elite and right-wing ideologues or leading a brand of evangelical nihilists that are you drunk with power and want to dominate the world?

I know where MY ideal living place would be (if I had enough money and a good strong car): In a log cabin with an open fireplace up in the mountains/valleys in Norway, by a lake. With the car I could go to the town when I felt for socializing, and back to the quiet and peace in the mountains. Maybe you have something similar in Nort Carolina

Well the economy is ... ( 1 month ago by Fuchsia)
Well the economy is largely based on the purchase of homes and on credit. Some catalysts for this economic downswing began under the Clinton Administration when the Community Reinvestment Act was passed. This basically forced lenders to give loans to people who were underqualified... And who passsed this law? The government. Now people think the bailout out plan that the government came up with is going to save them. Yeah right.

i was paraphrasing ... ( 1 month ago by gosciu555)
i was paraphrasing mr.bush. And too all those torture fanboys, here is the problem. torture is not used to get information. Torture is a form of psyop, the "insurgents" know that if they get captured, they'll be tortured, so its a deterrent for anyone who might look to join the resistance. If terrorism was real, you could also make the case that it might be necessary. The fact is its not. Terrorism does not exist without intelligence involvement.
the economy is down ... ( 1 month ago by box4homeles)
the economy is down couse the federal reserve bank of america wants it to be it is privately run by someone? yet to find someone who knows. they do what they need to to keep the usa in debt with them so as long as the usa keeps borrowing money of the federal reserve bank of america the federal reserve bank of america will be in controll. how do you think they passed the Community Reinvestment Act, any monkey could work out that it wouldn't work.
