Its unlikely, but the grasshopper can injure your tarantula with his fresh, thin skin. It's also just more stressful for them.

wow, ok, what i learn from these comments are that people need to RESEARCH the pet before they get them to know that they MOLT and not DIE. SPiders dont die on their backs at all, unless you squish them, they normally curl up or lay on their side. I love my tarantula and she just molted again!

my tarantula just molted today :D i thought it had fallen off the side of glass when i saw it on it's back, lol.
you shouldn't have that cricket in there btw, even something that small can stress it out enough to to kill it when it's molting.

My pink toe just ...( 1 month ago by kalista34)
My pink toe just molted for the first time! I woke up to a fresh and beautiful black spider with her brown skin molted perfectly. She hasn't eaten since I got her (about three or four weeks ago) and I was hoping it was because she was about to molt. I'm glad I was right! And I'm glad there weren't any complications, though I think she molted right side up, but didn't seem to have a problem.

Ahhh worse mistake ...( 1 month ago by FreshMintBlue)
Ahhh worse mistake ever, NEVER EVER have a cricket or any other insect for that matter but especially a CRICKET in the same tank when she molts, your spider will be extremly vurnable in that time and crickets will try to damage and eat her.
How long does the ...( 1 month ago by shanban74429)
How long does the actual molting process take? How often do they molt? I ask because my husband caught one in our yard a few weeks ago and he is keeping him as a pet. They are all over the place where we live. (We live by a lake and they run rampant around here!) Anyhow, our's has not molted yet, but we found another one just like him out on our porch a few days ago and he looks "dead" but we have read online that they look that way when they molt so I dunno...any info please?!

I'm no spider ...( 3 weeks ago by adisturbedoneandi)
I'm no spider expert, or a owner of a spider, but to my knowledge. Please do not leave cricket in the same tank as your tarautula. Cricket will kill her because after molding, they are completely helplessly, their fangs are super soft, like soft plastic. They cannot be able to defend themselves. So.. for next molding. make sure her tank is clear from any other bugs. For her own safety.
But amazing video.

Wow, that is a great video. Got my tarantula a couple of weeks ago and she flipped over last night. Quickly got the food out and left her...very very interesting to watch and can't wait to see the moult. There was still nothing happening this morning though.

endycis occurs when ...( 3 weeks ago by tartantulakid666)
endycis occurs when the tarantula is growin. spiderling or slings she as frequents as every two weeks, juveniles about every 4-5 months, sub adults maybe every 6 months and adults to as infrequent as every 2 years. during moulting, they are on their back pushing off the small exuvium. a moult can take between 2 and 8 hours. the humidity should be higher than usual to help and ease this process
