I just think he's overrated in general. Same as GayC/DC and Gays-n-Roses. Him and Slash and Hendrix are highly overrated. Everyone thinks that if you play guitar you automatically worship one or all of those 3. It's really annoying and sad.

Well the three of them were the most popular and influential of their time, even if the music itself wasn't very good. Hendrix was the first to do a lot of weird stuff on a guitar, buckethead was also a first to do such things. Slash was just an icon. Much like the "austin powers" of 80s rock. This doesn't dub them as "good" just influential.

Either way, most guitarists aren't influenced by those people. It's a stereotype more than anything. I was influenced by Cobain to pick up guitar and sing and further influenced by Claudio Sanchez and Travis Stever to continue my pursuit in both.

Ok, you try to become as big as they did that fast and not hate it. They went from nothing to pioneers of a genre too fast and he hated it. And how many Nirvana songs have you actually listened to? Guitar isn't about "shredding" all the time or constant "widdly wah"s.

Of course love killed him but you shouldnt be miserable for changing the face of music. Thats something every musician dreams of doing and cobain would rather be dead than enjoy what he was bringing to music. My brother owns like 2 nirvana albums and i can't stand listening to either one. The best guitarists ever are the two frontmen from the grateful dead. they can play blues, jazz, country, bluegrass, folk, rock...pretty much everything. a great guitarist is one that can adapt.

In the end they both went off into something different and had no more new knowledge than they started with.
