severe bit? it's required for the level. And it's not severe at all. A lot of people look at the double reins and shank and think 'ow,' but those guys have such soft hands. a bit is only as severe as you make it. Most people riding around in snaffles do more damage by yanking on their horses' mouths.

Matine is considered by many to be one of the best dressage horses of the last few years. She was to be Andreas' mount for the Olympics but was injured unloading from a trailer last year and is not completely healed. Hopefully she will be 100% next year and should come back better than ever. At the time of this video, she was "only nine". It takes many years to train for this discipline and most Grand Prix horses are in their teens.
