The Large Hadron Collider is the largest and most complex scientific instrument ever built and the highest energy particle accelerator in the world.
The accelerator is located 100 m underground and runs through both French and Swiss territory. (27km circumference)
Latest: Geneva, 20 September 2008. During commissioning (without beam) of the final LHC sector (sector 34) at high current for operation at 5 TeV, an incident occurred at mid-day on Friday 19 September resulting in a large helium leak into the tunnel. Preliminary investigations indicate that the m
ost likely cause of the problem was a faulty electrical connection between two magnets, which probably melted at high current leading to mechanical failure. CERN s strict safety regulations ensured that at no time was there any risk to people. A full investigation is underway, but it is already cle
ar that the sector will have to be warmed up for repairs to take place. This implies a minimum of two months down time for LHC operation. For the same fault, not uncommon in a normally conducting machine, the repair time would be a matter of days. CERN press release Offical site http://www.cern.d

I hope they can get the LHC back up soon.
Problems are to be expected for an experiment of proportions like the LHC, I guess. BTW, today I'm in a realy bad mood, just saw an interview on Spiegel online with Adnan Oktar aka Harun Yahya, I mean WTF? Why do they give such crazy creationist nuts a platform? I hope Oktar goes to jail like Ho
wind did.

"I hope they can get the LHC back up soon." Me too. I want results. "just saw an interview on Spiegel online with Adnan Oktar aka Harun Yahya" Wow... now I'm in a bad mood too. How can a reputable news organisation like the Spiegel give him a platform? This is insane! "I hope Oktar goes to jail like Howind did." "Im Jahre 2008 wurde Oktar wegen Bildung einer kriminellen Vereinigung zu drei Jahren Haft verurteilt." - Wikipedia So actually he should already be in jail no?
Also the fact that ... ( 1 month ago by infinit888)
Also the fact that spiegel even put it under the category science pisses me of a bit. Creationism is not science. It's not even a proper hypothesis.

Well basicly everybody has the right to appeal his/her sentence.

Noooo, I haven't noticed that.
I hope Spiegel gets some nasty mail for that.
Sadly creationism is still around here in Europe and even in Switzerland as well, especially among "Blick-leser" it seems.

"I hope Spiegel gets some nasty mail for that." Exactly my thoughts. I hope they get slammed by the max plank institute or something. "Sadly creationism is still around here in Europe and even in Switzerland as well, especially among "Blick-leser" it seems." Well Blick readers aren't the most educated. I also heard that Harun Yahya sent some books to schools.

What amazes me is the fact that this is actually happening. Findings may actually put the end on creationism mumbo-jumbo.

"Findings may actually put the end on creationism mumbo-jumbo." Don't be too optimistic. They are able to lie, distort, quote mine and just rely on 'faith'. If all else fails they can still claim 'god did it'.
"You got a point ... ( 1 month ago by infinit888)
"You got a point there." And believe you me... I'd rather not have a point.
