I have to agree with GCE here. Your have your beliefs, I have mine, and Rachellynn has her's.
If your truly religious you'd know it is not your place to cast judgment, but that of God. Think of that next time you call someone out.
That being said, I am agnostic, and still value the meaning behind this song, moreso the morality of not giving up, not only on others, but yourself. If you cannot depend on your kinsmen...who can you?

For a long time, no one believed in me, besides myself. This song strikes a cord of which I'd prefer to not have hit. However, it is true that belief may help some people.
However, if you grew up having to help yourself, and not being able to depend on others, religion may not provide a haven for your shoulders, upon which rests your world.

the Lord loves you and hates to see you hurt, because of sin in the world we are seperated from God, but He stands at the door and knocks, and only if we are to let Him in will He be able to help us. I can see where FBD is coming from myself, personal, I am an abuse surviver as well, and it is what keeps me from worshiping any God.
