The point is that they own it and they can decide as much as they want because it's their labor. If it wasn't efficient for them to just decide everything by themselves I guess they could decide to hire other people to decide. Current owners sometimes do this by appointing secretaries, so why couldn't workers do this as a whole if they wanted. They'd still own it and could fire or overrule the hired deciders at any time.

Room temperature IQ, good one. Is that in Fahrenheit or Celsius? Jokes aside though, my sister's husband is from the south and is very intelligent.
Libertarianism is ... ( 8 months ago by brianreading)
Libertarianism is minarchism by definition. Your statement that libertarianism "means no small government" is flat-out wrong. This is what separates libertarianism from anarchy. Where did you get your definition of libertarianism? The New Oxford American Dictionary says it's: "an extreme laissez-faire political philosophy advocating only minimal state intervention in the lives of citizens." Notice the words "minimal state intervention"?
Yeah... I don't ... ( 8 months ago by zapata420)
Yeah... I don't think "no government" is such a good idea. You just have to make sure it doesn't fall into the hands of the wrong people. With a socialist economic system, there would be less of a gap from rich to poor, the rich would have less influence and each person's views would be given equaler consideration in decision-making- which is in fact the fundamental principal of democracy.

note how he twists things around in one statement itself. No wonder he made me laugh so hard, not because its funny, but because his IQ is disgusting enough - which in my opinion is near the boiling point of hydrogen.

Anachro-Capitalism is greater than Democratic Socialism
This is ... ( 7 months ago by SSSLLLAAYYEEERRRR)
This is Left-Libertarianism. I prefer Right-Libertarianism, private property rights accepted, because it does not force one to help other. Left-Libertarianism requires some kind of mandatory compensation for resources claimed, monetary or in this case resource allotments. This, in my opinion, is still coercion. Instead a more capitalist libertarianism allows for people to use charity but be free of coercion. Freedom for better or worse.
Socialism, unlike ... ( 7 months ago by SSSLLLAAYYEEERRRR)
Socialism, unlike Communism and Capitalism, requires a middle man to re-distribute wealth. As a result the term socialism as applied to libertarianism, and communism for that matter, limits the possibilities. Chomsky is an advocate for LS but it relies on the state to, in effect, protect the absence of private property. This state control still demonstrates a feeling that government needs to take care of us, defeating the real meaning of libertarianism. Paul, by the way, is a right-libertarian.
The problem, I ... ( 7 months ago by zapata420)
The problem, I believe, with Anarcho-Capitalism is that the very wealthy will eventually become the unofficial government. Even today, the rich have become so wealthy that they basically own the government by funding the candidates they want to win. And when the rich have that power, the people's views don't come under consideration. The only freedom capitalism brings is the freedom for a select few to become as rich as they can, while rest stuggle for survival.

Yeah, lets have citizen councils dish out the justice. It would be like grade school when kids would side with the bully to attack the outcast child to save themselves from attack.
I am not even going to get started on the worker controlled production. Sounds nice but it would only work in a perfect world; same as with everything else that was said.

Are we ready for libertarian socialism? HA! We're no where near it....
It is probably one of the most legit ideologies out there but I don't see it happening anytime soon. In order for it to work, the people of the world would need to awaken on a global scale and reach a higher level of consciousness and true humany empathy in the struggle for justice.

Obviously people are no where near this "awakening".
People are more concerned with "Dancing with the Stars" and their brand new Cadillac than the fact that 1% of the pop owns 40% of the wealth. Or the fact that 10s of 1000s die everyday from starvation and millions and millions live in poverty. Another obstacle is the risk of the "state" taking o
ver to serve as a "transisatory phase" to the ultimate statless society. That will do no good in my view. Just look at the USSR.
