Yes, in that it is a DAW and the lay out with files are similar , but no its a whole 'nother animal as far as audio editing is concerned, midi is another thing though it was just added to Acid so not as precise as cubase

No, nothing like cubase. I have both pro tools and cubase and acid is much more difficult. but then again i'm using VST samples.

Ok. I'm giving my noob status away here, but, how the hell do i enter triplets in the midi window? I've read about opening a brush tool, selecting triplets (8th note, 16th note, etc) and dragging the brush. Either I did this wrong or that's not it. Someone please help me!
