Isn't that too much involvement from you right at birth ? It seems you should let nature do what it does at least for first few hours of their lives before you start feeding them whatever that is your feeding them and handling them so much. I'll admitt I am not a breeder so maybe some of what you are doing is benneficial towards the final profit or something. Nice pups though.

You are right in the fact in nature there would be no intervention, it would purely be down to Mum. The downside is that leaving it to nature, Mum would abandon the weaker pups and save her milk for the 3 or 4 strongest pups.

That makes sense. I thought there might be some logical or professional reason for such early intervention. Thanks for the feedback. I saw one of these dogs for the first time this summer and thought the owner was making the name up. I swore it was a Rottweiler/Collie mix or something. Beautiful breed. THanks Again.
