We are not against marx because he was a materialist, its simply that the materialism of marx accounts for the warped ideals of communism and explains the failiures and misery it brought. i am not personally fammiliar with the work of hobbes or lucretius, but from what i know of hobbes i agree with his point that without society human life woult be nasty, short and brutish, not as i understand it a materialist attitude.

Nihilism is trickey. Fascism is a rejection of liberalist and marxist values, essentially the entire old order, nihilists too reject the old order but out of the glorified principle of pessimism. Fascism was a progressive movement in that it wanted to create a great innovative future. nietzsche is a classic case, did rejecting god make him a nihilist, no because he belived that the greatness of mans potentaial could fill the voids of meaning and purpose, and so to does fascism.

you can be difficult. Its fairly evident that marxism in the dialectical materialist sense ie 'the prophacy' failed because marx took a purely materialist view, and a primitive one at that. It was finished even before fascism emerged, the working classes identify themselves as above all as citizens as their own nation rather than an international class of workers. fascism is opposed to dialectical materialism on those grounds the idea of anti national violent revolution that requires slaughter.

How would you define the Nation? Socialism4ever has argued this: "Historical Materialism trumps just about everything that "nationalists" have to say. They can suck on it. Also, the nation as it is exists in the favour of capitalists. You can't just take a state that has been deliberately set up for the advantage of capital and then somehow try to build "socialism" from the top down. Hence why socialism triumphs. The class struggle exists due to the way history panned out.
