The guy on the horn and the guy on the bass. Who are they? William and the guy on the key boards are the only one's I can readily identify.
Jimmy Haslip on ...( 1 year ago by OtisGreen)
Jimmy Haslip on bass ... He and keyboardist Russell Ferrante are the only two members from the Yellowjackets original lineup. Jimmy also plays with guitarist Robben Ford (Yellowjacket founder) and drummer Vinnie Colaiuta in a Fusion Power Trio called Jing Chi (different). Also different is his playing on Gino Vanelli's excellent "Brother to Brother" record.

Marc Russo is on a very ballsy soprano sax. This video omits a good deal of his solo at the end. Buy the CD if you can find it. :-)

I love this band. And this song is an excellent example of their ability to seamlessly merge different styles into a creative display of Corporate Individualism. (AKA: I think they freaking rock!)

why was a TV dinner flying from the sky. I love this song, but like the Pat Metheny Group Geffen forced corporate vids, ("Last Train Home") this is just as bad. 5 stars for the playing tho

Also listen to guitarist Carlos Rios on "Brother to Brother"! His solo lines are an amazing example of JazzRock at its best! I still get chills when I hear his playing on that album!

Absolutely ... One of my FAVORITE records. Gino Vanelli, arguably the best vocalist in the FUSION movement, which was almost entirely instrumental.

Brilliant music let down by someone trying to be creative with video. Got this cd back in the 80's. It still sounds good!!

sconman5487- I'm a drummer and I got this ALBUM when it came out in '87 - I love Will and Jimmy's chemistry and I've been a fan ever since...even found some older stuff with Ricky on drums. - This whole song is in 6/8. There's not even a 7/8 MEASURE in the whole joint! You can even count it out in a slow 4/4(listen to the claps on the break). The rythmic melody that starts at the beginning of the song and DOES NOT STOP is probably what's throwing you off. Just listen to the drums!lol Peace&Love

nebaioth- maybe the marimba part is in 7/8, but it's overlaid on the song's 6/8 rhythm? I've heard this song described as "rhythmically complex" by more than one person. . .
If you feel it out, ...( 6 months ago by nebaioth)
If you feel it out, you'll feel the groove in 6/8, or 12/8; however long you want the measure to be. 7/8...? Hmm..okay...if you think about it, you can somehow count it out in 7/8...but who wants to! LOL!! That's TOO much work for me...like...walking around the block, when you can cut through the backyard!
è veramente grandioso viva gli yellowjackets...........
