I went from Kansas City to Chicago to New Orleans to Dallas and back by rail via Amtrak in the late summer of 1993. In this segment I cross the Mississippi River at Fort Madison Iowa and head into Illinios. Amtrak no longer takes this particular branch of the Santa Fe, now the Burlington Northern Santa Fe, so places like Streator and Joliet are not sites you see from Amtrak anymore. Check out the railfan shooting the trains at Joliets Union Station. SEE!!! I'm not the only nerd doing this.

Well there are still a few amtrak trains that run through Joliet. The Texas Eagle still runs through Joliet Union Station...and the train that runs from Chicago to St. Louis runs there also...so I guess there are still some that run through joliet.

I forgot to mention I rode this in September and remember this flood and seeing the damage it had done. Amazing.
