Too advanced? "Advanced" almost implies that it's an intellectual work. Either you appreciate the emotion behind the music or you don't. If you don't appreciate Symphony no. 1, you probably won't appreciate the subtlties of Symphony no. 5 either.

It's always refreshing to meet a mind reader. Of course I am aware that Symphony no. 5 is much more well known, but that doesn't make it any "simpler" or easier to understand. If this wasn't what you actually meant and you were indeed trying to be funny, you failed.

The whole is beautifully conducted and executed, especially from 2:20-4:00 is sensational for its drama and tempo changes! This symphony should be as famous as the fifth.

this is actually my favorite symphony of his. it is very engaging, and connects at a personal level with "the common man," an important objective for anyone who wanted to write music to pay the bills.
