They aren't grunge. Personally I never believed in grunge. I don't think Soundgarden is grunge. I don't think Alice in chains is grunge. I don't think Pearl Jam is grunge. Shit, I don't even think Nirvana is grunge. I think grunge is probably the most retarded label of music. I have all those bands CDs and I honestly think the only reason they call any of them grunge, is because they were bored and wanted to categorize them as something. grunge for me is the term phraised to the bands & musicians who came out of seattle washington area from 1985-1996 that played rock to heavy metal, in a way they are different from everything else, so they do deserve a different title, but the bands them selves are completely different in their own way. & i hate it when bands today are classified as grunge or post grunge, there is no such thing anymore, even if it did exsists bands today sound like shit and do not deserve the same title as AIC.

I don't even believe in grunge as a genre. I think AIC, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, and Soundgarden were just 4 successful bands that just happened to be from Seattle. I'm sorry to any hardcore grunge fans but like... the idea of Alice in Chains being categorized with a band like Pearl Jam pisses me off. It's not that one is better than the other, it's just that they are so ridiculously different that using just one word to describe both bands sounds ignorant. Once again, sorry to any grunge fans.
