For people who believe that there was some sort of signalling done, as in the guy purposely told him what number it was in, what would be the point? It would be much easier and less risky to agree on a number before hand.
About subliminal messaging, sorry but for numbers 1-6 everyone has a favourite number, its very easy for them to decide on a number on thier own and subliminal messaging is just way too risky for a life/death situation.
The whole trick is about misleading the audience.

God, I remember watching this when it first aired. I was shitting bricks, despite the fact that obviously he wouldn't have done it if there was any chance of failure.
I can see why Sonictunic would find it boring. Watching it in hindsight removes all impact. We know Derren Brown lived to make another series.
