These cars are built just like any normal car. There is nothing sporty about them except they are lower and have huge engines and fat tyres. Ive been to Lambo factory, Ferrari and even Koenigsegg factory where they have only 11 guys working a couple of cars at a time. Thats real quality and real exclusive. No wonder they are half of Lambo price. They are made from plastic, have no soul and still use steel frames like any normal car. USA should start making full price supercars and then compare.

have you been to the factory? while many people work on this car, they have very specific, detailed assingments. this video can be misleading. only ONE worker builds and tests the engine. my 2008 z06 has Greg Jones as the person that built it. it is his seal of approval. plus, this is a time lapsed film. as you saw in the vid, there is always someone watching the stations. sometimes, too few builders can miss something. this is built by hand and by robots. it is a very precise factory.

My work has taken me to many such factories and from the video it looks like any other car manufactorer. They all have assigned jobs and they all watch out that nothing goes bad.. its just that proper sportscars arent massproduced in that way. This is more like a factory line of Audi or Volvo with a huge engine on it. Im not saying Corvettes are shit tho because finally they have started making decent cars. They still have a while to go with their choice of materials and design tho.

lambos are plastic to dumb ass so are ferraris there made this way so that thay can go faster the corvette zr1 is a kick ass car and yes its plastic so was the first one its called fiber glass light = faster !!!!!

what? you mean a leather interior, including the dasboard? it has that. carbon fiber dash panels? has that. carbonfiber and balsa wood floor panels? has that. 280 lb. aluminum space frame? has that. magnesium engine tub? has that. a carbon fiber spoiler that is LIGHTER than the paint that is on it? has that. state of the art painting process that 99% dust free? has that. state of the art anti-corrosion process? has that. if they did it YOUR way, it would cost TWICE as much. and for what??

I think you are confusing sports cars with super cars. The ultimate sports cars don't have great interiors or creature comforts, they are pure driving machines I think people have forgotten that. Real sports cars were about viceral performance with no thought given to anything else.

No doubt car is a beast but the interior needs updating. It's not the material, plastic is fine keeps cost and weight down, it's the way it looks. If they could take the interior from the new camaro and put it into the vette that would be awesome with some luminescent blue gauges.

Well that doesn't say too mutch for ferrari and lambo then now does it? If so much more design and consideration about materials is put into them then why will that zr1 outperform every lambo that is currently out and almost every ferrari? Also, they assemble them that way because corvette is supposed to be bargain performance for people other than just those who are filthy rich.

NO lamborghini was ever made for racing. Its all about looks, feel and exclusivity. Ferraris however... yeah its easy to say you outperform a Ferrari. but the high end ferraris are way out of league for any american to touch. Why fight it.. Most European supercars are sold in USA. so clearly americans agree where the best ones come from.

American car industry is losing billions a year and tens of thousands of workers are laid off across USA. Whereas european car sales are doing fine. USA should stop making cheap cars with lots of HP. times have moved on. But ofcourse.. To an american thats like swearing in church isnt it.

Unless you are talking an enzo or fxx, the zr1 will beat every ferrari I know of on a race track. It might even beat the enzo. Also, I hear that over in Europe, vettes and vipers and stuff are looked at like we look at lambos and ferraris over here. I don't want to seem like I hate european cars because I love them. You get a lot of luxury and cool looks but you don't get the bargain performance out of them like you do with American.

2:23 "As you can see we're KINDA flush" That should be perfectly flush if they want to get rid of the old GM stigma about build quality. If it was a flaghip german or Japanese sports car, the guys building would be in lab coats with perfect diction. Still a badass car though, and if I had the $ it'd be this or a GTR. probably the GTR though, I'm more partial to Imports.

Gotta love people that trash talk Vettes - if you knew anything about Vettes the fact is they are hand-built, no robots (like a typical factory) and the engine is completely hand-built (lab coats and all) and the zr1 is built on an aluminum-intensive chassis much like Ferraris are LOL. Low build numbers, performance and being exotic are what make the Ferraris price tags more. Also, try buying a zr1 in Germany or Italy and see how much it costs being an exotic there.
