I think it helped that Buddy and Junior were good friends and they played together often. That said... I was surprised too when I first saw it.

You're right, blues ...( 3 months ago by tubearmy)
You're right, blues isn't limited to a particular race but that wasn't the point. According to legend, Eric Clapton wouldn't enter into a conversation about the blues if the other party didn't know about Robert Johnson. Why is that? Because blues roots rest in the black domain. Suffering? Hardship? Poverty? Dislocation? All of these things and more are what made the blues what it is, without which, the great artists you mention might never have been.

tubearmy, spring41686. First things first. Elvis, from the beginning covered most his songs from tha South blues folk. FOr reference, spring41686, Check out Big mama Thorton, a song written from a different ethnicity, but sung with SOULLLLL in the end. Tubearmy, Blues is life and life is blues. The blues will always be a part of the South, but there are a few exceptions Stevie Ray Vauhn, Eric Clapton, and one more? Thats all.

Point taken. Thing about this particular piece is the restraint shown by the back line (bass/drums). It gives full voice to Wells and Guy when they hit the solos. Great performance by all concerned.

Clapton shouted at ...( 3 weeks ago by Themba88)
Clapton shouted at a racist rally: "I think we should send them all back.'
The hypocrisy was breathtaking: Clapton's career was and still is, based on appropriating black music, and had a hit with Bob Marley's 'I Shot the Sheriff'.
Each time white ...( 3 weeks ago by Themba88)
Each time white people steal, they claim that " blues isn't limited to a particular race" but PRIVILEGE only belong to their race. THIS IS BULLSHIT.
Fuck Eric Clapton and his prejudice ass. He complained that Britain was in danger of becoming 'a black colony', and voted for controversial Tory politician, Enoch Powell whom he described as a prophet needed to 'keep Britain white'.

David Bowie, who was photographed giving a Nazi salute i told Cameron Crowe in the September 1976 edition of Playboy '... yes I believe very strongly in fascism. The only way we can speed up the sort of liberalism that's hanging foul in the air... is a right-wing totally dictatorial tyranny...' In that same interview Bowie claimed that 'Adolf Hitler was one of the first rock stars.'

Those are pretty heavy "facts" to throw about. I am no Clapton fan, but where do you get your information? I would be interested in researching your claims further to see if they have any basis in reality or if they are just paranoid ranting. I agree that white folk make pretty lame blues players
I just did a quick ...( 2 weeks ago by jujutay)
I just did a quick search on wikipedia to see if these claims of racism against Clapton and Bowie are true and I am afraid it seems like they are. I always thought Eric Clapton was just a boring old fart with a drinking problem, but it seems he is much more. What a dork!
He had said that ...( 2 weeks ago by Ledvolta)
He had said that those claims about the politicians were the 'ravings of a drunkard' or something like that. Even so, Clapton continues to show support for this fellow, it seems. It's puzzling, to say the least. Clapton has not retracted what he said, even when he had been given the opportunity to do so.
That is my understanding. I hope I'm wrong.
