It seems to me that if you openly support a fascist, that makes you a fascist.
You can argue that I'm using guilt by association, but I don't see the red herring. The later is a diversion from a logical argument with something that doesn't pertain to the argument.
But I call him fascist for supporting a fascist the same way that German and Italian citizens were labeled fascist for their support of Hitler and Mussolini. Or will you say only the leaders can be so labeled?

A guy comes back from fighting in vietnam where his friends have been killed, nothing was accomplished, he can't get a job, and at the end he has "nowhere to run and nowhere to go." the seeming patriotism and happiness of the song is meant to be ironic. read/listen to the lyrics
