Myrna Loy, singing, dancing, strutting, paying her dues to become a big Hollywood star. Also in the film: Loretta Young, Conway Tearle, David Manners and J. Farrell MacDonald. "Playin' Around" and "Daddy, I Have To Have You" are performed by Miss Loy. Please advise if you know who the voice dubber is. When the movie was released, even "The Billboard" weekly made note of the dubbing.

Of course, this isn't Myrna singing, and it does sound like Ethel! It's a hoot when she keeps singing while pucking up to blow a kiss! I knew Loy was a dancer --she's good.

This is rather funny because that singing voice sounds absolutely nothing like her speaking voice. Look what a cute little dancer she is though!

Doesn't sound like Myrna Loy nor Willaim Powell. Now they were a pairing

If that's Ethel Merman's voice, then I am really Ned Sparks.

Myrna's voice was dubbed, but without a doubt...the most beautiful eyes on earth.

I think it is Myrna's voice. Studios sometimes dubbed the actual actor's recorded voice for musical numbers in the early talkies. Myrna's singing is awful. If the studio had used someone else's voice they would have chosen a good singer.

Don't know if it's Ethel Merman...the first number certainly sounds like a young Ethel...but I'd swear the second number was dubbed by a different singer from the first.

Actually the studios rarely dubbed voices because of all the criticism that ensued.. as in this case. Another notorious example was Richard Barthelmess's first part-talkie "Weary River". Myrna Loy usually sang in her own voice in the early talkies e.g. "Under A Texas Moon" (1930) "The Desert Song" (1929), "The Squall" (1929) etc. etc.
