There is always sound degredation during the A/D and D/A process (when you convert signals from analog to digital and vice versa), which is what happens with CDs. Vinyl is superior in sound quality.

hey!thanx for this...vinyl sounds much better-and also graphic design of the lp covers, seems better than a small ugly plastic box of the cd.
Vinyl is best. ...( 3 months ago by Haydz01)
Vinyl is best. because of it being analogue it can give out signals that anything digital cant. this means its better than a cd or anything u would download. digital has a limited ammount of freequencies on both sides of the spectrum it can give out, where as analogue is endless, endless to the point it can deliver signals the human ear cannot even hear.

Cool. Didn't expect it to be this much of work! That's a lot of effort and now understand why they have a such price :)

Well, but today everything is produced with the help of computers and you will not have these freequencies anymore. :(
If you knew ...( 3 months ago by steadfastcoward)
If you knew anything about CD-4/QS and SQ quad or CED videodisk systems you would understand how hard it is to at least place a second discrete pair or channels out to about 50 kHz (in the case of CD-4). That's why mastering discs was done by skilled craftsment that were often paid quite well.
Vinyl has physical ...( 3 months ago by steadfastcoward)
Vinyl has physical demands that require special equalization standards to be it's best and CD audio has it's own trick of the trade to provide the best quality and least errors. Look for the CD "redbook" or standards that Philips and Sony require for CD audio and you would be surprized.
Every system has "standards".

steventean, basically if there are any imperfections in the master vinyl then these imperfections will be on every copy made from it.
If you've ever bought a new record and played it only to find the needle jumps every time (even though it's a brand new record) at a certain part, it's probably to do with a unseen imperfection on the vinyl. These imperfections usually look like tiny dots on the vinyl you can feel with your finger.

Never mind jumps! I had Loverboy's "Hot Girls In Love" 45...went through about 10 copies...every copy got to a certain part, about 2:30 into the single version, and would stick in the same damn spot.
