unfortunately I still haven't tried base :( just conventional skydive .... but, i think that the slider on base canopy has a smaller area...so yes the impact is bigger... of course one of the main purposes of the slider is to provide proper and uninterrupted deployment, so no tangle of the lines....

Base rigs can have sliders but their use will largely be dependant on the height of the jump/freefall delay. A terminal jump will use a slider in the same way as a skydiving rig whereas low jumps are usually slider down of slider off.
