She is only human. I think the fact that she raised them unconditionally regardless of whether they were gay shows how great of a mother she is. Especially in the times that she was raising them, homosexuality was still largely taboo. It takes a lot to reverse the brainwashing that society does on you. What matters is the present, and she obviously cares a lot about her children.

A mother should never stop loving her children, however, her comment about her 8 year old getting excited and having feelings for her counselor and a teacher should have been addressed immediately. There is a mental issue going on there.

Sportbominable - please elaborate on the "mental issue" I'm genuinely curious to hear. Because I think it's rather common for kids to have crushes on teachers, gay or staight. Mom gave me the line everyone gets, "it's just a phase, it will pass." How else should she have addressed it? With a beating? Aversion therapy? Sever the brain? Gayness is an aspect of sexuality, an example of the possibilities the trait offers. Why is it so shocking to people that sexuality has variations like eye color?
