I believe that the thing could just increase its size if it wants. Thats why at the end the Blare monster was so big.

Wikipedia. Not that that's an authoritative source but you never know. I hope to God they don't remake it. They'll just CG-ify it and cast some hip young actors in the roles.

Yeah I always got the impression that its cellular structure could replicate at an exponential rate. The Thing is kind of like evolution with a conscious.

How was the doctor ... ( 3 weeks ago by sirlordwhitman)
How was the doctor guy thinking of making a flying saucer out of human-made helicopter parts. Did he (the thing) just not know any better?

I always found that a bit corny myself - he'd have to be one hell of a mechanic.

a sequel was made, in VG form, and carpenter considers it the valid sequel, childs was not the thing becuase you find his solid frozen corpse at the destroyed base, in and old beta you find macready, look in my videos for the beta trailer. btw top review!
also the organism ... ( 2 weeks ago by tobie1)
also the organism in the game is refered to as the 'cloud' virus, probably because it can take on any form.
Here's what i think ... ( 2 weeks ago by seabass073)
Here's what i think happened in a nutshell. The dog thing assimilated Norris. Norris shared a room with Blair and assimilated him...(dog enters a room with boxes. Later when the alarm is pulled, Blair comes out a room by the boxes) Windows borrowed the keys & dropped them when he saw bennings being taken over. bennings-thing sabotaged the blood before exiting the compound. During lights out it is Blairs figure that passes Fuchs door. during lights out i believe Palmer was assiliated by Blair.
I def agree about ... ( 2 weeks ago by robag88)
I def agree about the keys (can't believe I overlooked it in the review). As for Blair being asimilated early that doesn't sit right with me because we see him doing computer analysis of cell imitations and taking notes. Why would he do this if he was already infected?
When Blair is doing ... ( 2 weeks ago by seabass073)
When Blair is doing computer assimilation analysis... he's wearing a yellow collared shirt... then bennings gets assimilated... Blair is missing when they set the bennings-thing on fire... Norris could have assimilated him right before everyone came together... during the burning of bennings would have given the blair-thing enough time to complete assimilation... and notice... when Blair is on his tirade... he's wearing a white/gray shirt with suspenders... and not the collared yellow shirt...
Well, the Thing ... ( 2 weeks ago by mindstormsabrewin)
Well, the Thing managed to assimilate an alien and bring it's spacecraft to Earth. Perhaps it assimilated the technical knowledge needed as well. Man I just realized....we may all be GEEKS!!! Seriously we're getting close to "Trekkie" style over- interest! At least the Thing is COOL. Peace.
So, you think that ... ( 2 weeks ago by romanblood)
So, you think that the alien that crashes had been taken over by the thing? I've never heard that one, bloody interesting point.
Well, that's one of ... ( 2 weeks ago by mindstormsabrewin)
Well, that's one of the ideas discussed in the Thing commentary track. John Carpenter and Kurt Russell mention it as a possible backstory. It's one of the best film commentaries on DVD for any movie.
When Mac asks Blair ... ( 2 weeks ago by romanblood)
When Mac asks Blair where Fuchs is (when Blair is locked in the storage room) do you think he was asimilated by that point?
i thought the dog ... ( 2 weeks ago by bouncer97)
i thought the dog running awy from the camp over the credits was the monster.i thought the irony was that all the hell mac and childs went through, thinking hey at least we killed it...oops.Where is this alternate ending?

What makes you think the beer is infected? He could be laughing because if Childs was human he wouldn't dare drink from the same bottle Macready had been drinking from.

I was planning on doing a video review of this movie because I'm a huge fan of John Carpeter.
You stated most of the elements that I was going to point as to why this movie is so good. However, you took it even further. I can tell you put lots of time and effort into this. I salute you. Great job.
