He wasn't ignorant, he was being cras. Ignorance is an indication of being poorly educated, his comment was not. He's also right about the job thing, I mean if he's not earning enough in writing to support his family he should supplement his income in another way. Sometimes dreams don't work out,
and perhaps he should accept that.
