There are quite a few others who are having this same problem, namely, while playing GTA4 or COD4. The game will freeze, the PS3 will stop reading ANY kind of disc, and its often followed by the need to call customer support. Just wanted to make it known. I always kept the ps3 in flat/horizonta
l position on a vented stand for under-chassis airflow, and ive always kept a cover on it when not in use. I had NO internet connection to my PS3 from the time i installed gta4 to the time it froze/stopped reading, so this issue has nothing to do with PSN. I only connect online to download firmware

found with this problem the bluray drive will not spin [read] the disc. To test this, put a disc into your ps3. If the disc comes out just as it was put in (keep an eye on the disc art/label) then your bluray drive is dead. A bluray lens cleaner (Maxell sells one) will not fix the problem, since

tem came back with 2.20 firmware (I previously had 2.30 before the repair O.o), so I updated to 2.35 and downloaded the gta4 patch, then disconnected my ethernet from ps3. GTA4 has played so far for about 8 hours with only a single one second long freeze (like the 40GB systems are having, but only
one time so far), no other issues (keeping my fingers crossed). Will the new BD Drive Sony put into my ps3 (as many others) stand the test of time? Only time will tell.. I'll keep this video updated if anything happens..
