He's evolved as an artist, which isn't a bad thing. Would get pretty boring if he just stayed the same and did the same ol'.
His latest stuff is very raw and powerful. It's his best as far as I'm concerned and for those who long for the "old" Matt Good - give it a chance. Seriously, true fans of his music will appreciate the direction he's gone in.

I believe it is about his experience in the MGB and his transition to a Solo Artist. Essentially it is about his frustration with playing off his public persona that had developed in the MGB.
In an interview he said, "'"When Audio of Being came out, I was at the end of my rope with it all. I felt like I was playing a role that everyone else wanted me to play but me. I just couldn't do it any more. I was stuck in a rut. It had to change."

I'd accidentally discovered something about this song. Despite the title of the song, whatever you do... do not sing this in an Elmer Fudd voice. Completely changes the context of the song at the chorus.
