The Chariot has more lyrical content and skillful rythms and guitar parts than almost any metal/hardcore band out there. The don't just break the mold of of genre, they blow it away. Josh Scogin is amazing, and the energy and passion that he has for what he does translates into the music. But, I guess if you just want to go along, wolfganggrrr, listening to what all of the popular kids are listening to, go right ahead. You probably listen to rap, don't you.

i agree totally with natertatertot88. i was at this concert and it was totally awesome. Whoever can not recognize the musical merit in this is ignorant and naive. I am a jazz musician, and i listen to the chariot more than jazz because it appeals to me more. I know complex time signatures and chord changes and even with that knowledge and 11 years of playing jazz, 9 of which professionally, i know absolutely that this does qualify as music.

okay, i don't normally do this, but speakofsorrow, you just nullified any knowledge you have of music in just a few sentences. First of all, nothing the Chariot does has any musical complexity or maturity to it. It's all dissonant chords at random times and breakdowns... there might be odd times signatures involved but its all purely coincidence.

You can ask the band members themselves and they'll tell you they don't know what the hell they are playing, and furthermore, they barely hit a single note of their parts when they play live, which they will also tell you themselves if you ask. The Chariot is a joke among the modern metal/hardcore/metalcore acts out today. Bands watch them with disgust because of how popular they are, when the talent involved is next to nothing. Cool guys they might be, but musicians they are not.

If you want technical, mature, and well thought out music with odd time signatures and some actual thought put into it... go with the Dillinger Escape Plan, Between The Buried and Me, Misery Signals, Kayo Dot, etc. etc. More than anything, if you want something that appeals to an actual musician, look elsewhere than the Chariot. They may be fun to dance to, or crazy live, but speakofsorrow I just don't believe you that you are a trained jazz musician after what you said.

i'd like to watch you talk to the band, and see how much they actually know about music. you'd probably be surprised. just because you don't like this type of music doesnt mean that you have to trash on everyone that does. do you actually know what they are saying through their music?

you should be happy for them that they can express their love of christ through music of their choice, and not have to find some way to try and find a problem with them, or state how much you don't like them. You might not think that they are musical, and you are entitled to your opinion, but i don't think any band would like to read a bunch of people arguing about whether they suck or not.
