I agree with that totally. My mentor, unofficially, taught me how to play better by just kicking my butt everyday for a year when I was about 16. He was about a 1600 player, and I just knew how to move the pieces, with small combinations. After about a year we ended up going back and forward. At the current rating that I am, what rating of player do you suggest I focus on?

instead of the "tricky" Be6 move attacking the queen, simply play Qxf2+ which is MATE in 3.

Hey Jerry- I really like how you ignored losing material (6:05) and ignored gaining material (9:20) b/c you were able to see moves ahead in the game. That's a mistake that I make quite often (especially when I can capture my opponent's queen for less material) b/c I'm afraid that opportunity won't present again later in the game. This is definitely something I really need to work on- Thanks for the vid and the great analysis!
