I know plenty of people who come from India, and while there are regional languages such as Oriya, Tamil, Punjabi, Gujarati, Rajasthani, Lahnda, Sindhi, Marathi, Bengali, Bihari, and Sinhalese, it is a fact that Hindi is India's official "trade" language. My Indian friends will corroborate this.
I've read ALOT about India in my 27 years on this planet. :)
