Ran across this as I was suffering and could not believe it, one of my favorites from the 60's
"Carrie Anne". Loved it then and I still think it's a great song and music, I am now 72 years old.
I also think the Hollies should be accepted into the Hall-of-fame, today!

Unfortunatelly I can ´t find comments concerning voices and sounds (they were compared with Beatles) so I can´t reply directly... at least like this: I just want to say that as much as I like Beatles, I have to tell that Hollies sounds much better, I mean they have better voices...

The Hollies, erm, ...( 2 weeks ago by johnjarvo)
The Hollies, erm, yeah, they made some good stuff, but if you play their greatest hits, it all gets a bit boring after a few tracks. The early songs tend to peter out near the end, and some end like they're playing them live (poor producing). Later stuff is much more interesting: Air That I Breathe, Long Cool Woman etc, etc. The Beatles they were not; only Graham Nash showed any real creativity - the quirky King Midas In Reverse being an exception. But a fine band nevertheless...

Bobby was one of the recognized greats even by the likes of Max Steinberg! He was a tgight drummer with a great style for the times especially..ever hear SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST or I'VE BEEN WRONG BEFORE? The latter being in 65-and Ringo couldn't come close!

I am glad someone agrees with me about Ringo.
I am not knocking Ringo, but he was "average"
Bobby was a better drummer!
OK, I have said it again and I am ready for the onslaught from Beatles fans, and i don't hate the Beatles. Even John Lennon said in a 1980 interview that "Ringo is a damn good drummer, but not technically a good drummer".

Of course, it is all a matter of opinion. And yes; I have listened to the Hollies; and I prefer the later stuff...

I've played this clip maybe a hundred times already and I still can't get enough. Beatles vs Hollies? One of my friends grew up in Birmingham in the 60's and saw them all, and when it came to rocking the house, THIS was the band...

you know, just in general, a comment doesnt have to be positive for it to be a good comment. often times i see comments that make a lot of sense, or just point out something particular and they get flamed for it.
