Yes, he was of Parsi descent; his parents were born in an area of India where many Parsis had migrated hundreds of years prior. Freddie was Farrokh's nickname as a child; he adopted it as his stage-name. He always seemed destined to be a musician. RIP Freddie, we still miss you...
