It certainly is. A pity that it is so neglected. Only Bernstein used it in the original score and film version of West Side Story, but it was dropped when the Orchestral version came out. Probably they feared there were not basssax players available everywhere in the world.

We have Jazz festivals in Portugal, United Kingdom, Netherlands and Germany this year.
Besides a regular contract at a fun Park in Slagharen during summer. 5 days a week, not on mondays and fridays.

We really would love to. I did try to contact several jazz clubs and festivals in Canada, but to my regret nobody replied.
To the guy from the UK I have better news, we will play at the Birmingham Jazz Festival July 4. till 6.

Wow! What a fantastic Dixieland band! You guys are awesome! And that's some of the absolute best bass sax I've ever heard. I've had the pleasure of playing with bass sax a couple of times. It's an amazing and beautiful instrument.

Cool! Only thing is where's the clarinet?!?!?! Every Dixieland jazz band needs a clarinet! Ahh oh well. I liked it anyways. :)

If you look very close, you'll be able to see the clarinet in the stand, next to the alto sax. The clarinet player doubles on all reeds and had a feature for his bass sax in this one. There are other videos from this concert where the double bass is playing and the clarinet is used.
