There are so many versions of this wonderful song, but I keep coming back to Cohen's as the best I've heard. His voice is so individual it is always going to be a 'love it or hate it' situation. Having listened to many versions on youtube, I'd rate my top three as: 1)Cohen 2)Cale 3)Buckley

This guy gets genius points for writing this masterpiece, no question. And his voice is unique enough to certainly make it interesting, but lets get real this is "Singing" only by the loosest definition. YOu want to hear this SUNG? Go listen to k.d. lang's version from the Elton John benefit. She outsang Roy Orbison in a duet on "Crying", for crying out loud. She not only nails this song, but really puts in out of reach of everyone else. Rufus Wainright and JOhn Cale also do great jobs.
