I assure you, sir, that it is not equality. The Bible is an incomplete set of stories written nearly 2000 years ago after years of passing them down through oral tradition. I would not put so much stock in quoting the bible.

FYI, the Bible was written over a course of 2000 years by 44 authors with the last writtings 90AD. Over a 1000 yrs later assembled from multiple sources into the KJV. The content was validated in 1947 with the Dead Sea Scroll discovery. The Bible maintained a consistent message somehow coming from 44 authors & multiple delivery mechanisms. No single related source!

OooBoooo: Do you understand Hebrew? BTW The Bible was mostly penned in Greek. Do you know meaning is lost in translation? Hebrew is both a pictographic & phonetic language. It has a high language compression ratio. That means that a single word has a lot of meaning to it. Simplistically, "aint" means "am I not" & is one form of compression. Breaking out meaning into another language that does not have the same compression ratio or contextual or social relevance causes some stress.

OooBoooo: Christian doctrine, stemming from the Bible, indicates that men & women are spiritual equals. In this world they have different duties & struggles. The structure this God put in place is that a piece of himself is in both. They are to join in a union, within his framework, to become complete. Sexual disobedience is a major concern bacause it messes with the image in each human. That image demands dignity. Activities like adultery, homosexuality, etc... impugne the image's dignity.

OooBoooo: IRT how meaning is lost in translation, for the most part emphasis and emotional character of the writings is not conveyed to language translations. For in english it is common to say to a woman that she is as beautiful as a rose. In other languages like Thai that is an insult because a woman is not a rose IOT to compare. So in Thai they would simply remark that she is very beautiful instead. The point is made but not at the same energy level.

Not sure how that translates into spiritual equality, but I'm guessing most women today wouldn't buy it. Also, there is no word in greek or hebrew which conveys the message of long-term, monogamous homosexual relationships as we understand them today. My point is that the bible can say whatever it wants about homosexuality (I'm sure we'll disagree on that as well), regardless of this, morals shouldn't be law. Government's job is to protect citizens from each other, not install a moral compass

I have fought for democratic reforms in Africa and elsewhere. Why? Because I understand and know the truth. I have seen people in Iraq & know they confused. US forefathers recognized this stating that the revolution was staked on man's ability to live principally IAW the 10 commandments. You should note that morals come from a source; islam, humanism, etc... Christianity is a source. Morals in Christianity are design to give dignity to the image in each human. Step5732: IAW = in accordance with. I am responding to OooBoooo's remarks. In Christian thought the need for the law is for people who do not live by christian princples. The root of all sin is pride in Christian thought. Pride is ostentatious confidence in oneself's. It is the root reason Satan was cast from Heaven. Morals are derived from something or somewhere. Morals do not pop into existence from nothingness as there is a reason fora moral judgement. ie judging between right & wrong.
