Plenty of bands were influenced by their later work.
Maybe their later stuff sold less copies, but Sabbath fans who play are usually influenced by all of it.

Iommi is credited on one website with playing bagpipes on the album Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, but does not list the song. In an interview I found, he said he once bought bagpipes to try them for an album, and it did not work out. So, after checking all of the songs on that album, I didn't hear it. That is the extent of my detective work. Maybe I missed something.

Are you going to tell me that Albums after the Mob Rules were major driving force in metal? They were awesome, no doubt. Eternal Idol, Tyr, and Cross Purposes were metal classics. But they were more a case of the Sabbath sound wrapped around current musical ideals. Every album starting in 1983 was an creature of its time, sounding very much its year. In some ways it's very cool because it's a microcosm of metal and culture as a whole.
