Nonsense. The word "gay" has simply changed/lost its meaning, or gained a new one. It's just a sound, and people can use it however they choose.

Enaku -the word 'nigger', like 'gay' , was 'just a sound' in your scheme of things - yet it was/is used as a way of keeping a group of people oppressed - as the word 'gay' to mean 'bad' is now being used to attempt to psychologically denegrate a group of people. As is the word 'Breeder' used increasingly to denote straights. Anyway, that's enough trying to reason with bigots - my comment was directed at those who might suffer from such remarks to know that there are sane people out here.
