I didn't think it was contrived.I think he felt it and Bowie is of course an influence but visually Bowie himself seems O.T.T and slightly contrived from this end of the telescope in 2008. Its all about music anyway and musically it holds up.
If you'd been to a gig in 1991/92 and seen them live they were pretty awesome.The early lyrics are very good, the music from 1992-1994 is excellent.

i agree, i think muscially they had something going on which does stand them apart from other brit bands and also stands the test of time, hence me looking them up on you tube in the first place! it's just this interview annoys me. I do find him so pretentious but like you say it's all about the music. I can't help thinking though underneath it all brett is a really straight normal bloke but what the hell do i know!
