I love this masterpiece.
But I don't like Karl Bohm's interpretations, the Vienna Philharmonic is a very good orchestra, but only for Strauss. I'd more like the Berlin Philharmonic playing this Symphony.

Escuch é una interpretación de Furtwängler respecto a esta sinfonía (1947) y fue publicada por el sellito amarillo, es monoaural. Me retracto, el tempo en esta sinfonía no debe ser tocado rapido. Anteriormente, escuché las interpretaciones de Karajan (muy rapidas y de las que menos recomedaría) Tosc anini (hay una publicada en youtube), Klemperer, Bruno Walter y de Böhm ... pero la de Furtwängler de ese año es mi favorita y el tempo ... si tuvieras la oportunidad de escucharla.

I agree; Karajan really captures the forward momentum, the tension in the musical line, and the sheer excitement of this piece better than anyone I have ever heard. Strange that so popular a piece would not be successfully realized by so many great conductors; even Toscanini fails in this movement.

I just found another performance of this movement on YouTube that's pretty great: Carlos Kleiber from Mexico. Check it out! Of course that orchestra cannot compare with the Berlin Philharmonic. This version by Karl Bohm completely misses the mark.
