Magnificent. Big band vocals at their best. Modern youngsters (anyone born after 1950) don't know what they missed. Helen's third stanza still turns my legs to jelly.

Hi Joe - Nice to know that there are still some of us around who actually danced to the Big Bands, or had a chance to see them in person. Wish I could take a trip back in time.

I had the pleasure of meeting Bob Eberly no less than 3 times back in my teenage year in the mid-1970s. He was a real hoot--a terrific sense of humor and to me, the best male big band vocalist of that era--even Sinatra was a fan of his.

What can i say> my father in law passed away last year. My mother in law had green eyes. This was their song 50 years of mariage. I played this for her and we both cried, music will never ever be like this. Eat your heart out American Idol, this was romance the way it should be. i to played the alto, or tried to play it, but the two singers here have made me cry.

Both of the Dorsey orchestras were great. The brothers were fantastic musicians. You have to love Helen O'Connell. I was able to see her in person at the Roosevelt Hotel in New Orleans. It was in the mid 1960's and she was as good as in the 1940's.

Is there another version of Green Eyes, for the same era that has just a female singer? A little sexier or jazzy sounding?
