All of the factors that you list as weaknesses are things that make Buddy Guy sound dirty, gritty and ballsy. Jimmy Page wasn't exactly the cleanest player either, but if he had been less sloppy, Zeppelin would have sounded less 'down to earth' so to speak. Same goes for Hendrix. When I want to hear players with clean technique and execution, I listen to people like George Benson, John McLaughlin, Paco de Lucia etc. Many 'cleaner' players express great admiration for Guy's approach.

once again your putting buddy in a class with page, and thats just not the case. page wrote stuff no one could touch. he was a sloppy player but he wrote and recorded stuff that will be with us till the end of time. buddy is more of a stock blues man, he never left the 4 bar #1 pentatonic scale stuff. sure some love him and he is fun. but he is not in anyway a kind at the guitar. I was stating that your argument against Buddy Guys technique could also be applied to Mr. Page, but I never said anything about who is a 'better' player. Regardless, it's an irrefutable fact that Guy's playing was, and is, a tremendous influence on many guitar greats and musicians.
