haha (drum roll), I know and I'm kind of disappointed, they could have tried to stick a v8 in the S60 and just stick the R emblem on it. The newer G35's blow my mind, they're very sexy, Infinity just keeps getting better and better. Beware of door dings on that G35 though, most of them that I've closely taken a look at have quite a few noticeable dents and dings leading me to believe that the exterior is extra vulnerable to shopping carts!!

Actually the s60R has around 295 ft lb torque and 300 Hp while the 07 g35 has 258 or so ft lb torque with 306 Hp, which means that the s60R is faster. Torque is a better indicator of how fast the car is.
um...actually the ...( 1 year ago by gregneilson)
um...actually the G35 is faster despite the lower torque (no turbo lag) and at $8000 less, with Japanese quality (my S60R breaks down when I look at it the wrong way) I think it's a better deal my friend.

Volvo's are one of the most reliable cars on the road... you must be joking. I do not believe you own a S60R since you think its a crap car. I don't think the turbo lag would be that great. And Japanese quality?... sure they don't break down up until 100k miles, but how many are still on the road past 200k, I'll tell you that alot of volvos are, japanese, not so much.
Okay buddy, I'm ...( 1 year ago by gregneilson)
Okay buddy, I'm quite aware that I drive an S60R, I'm reminded every time I bring it in for service and leave with a $1500 repair bill!! If you think that Volvos are one of the most reliable vehicles on the road, there is no question that you, in fact do not own one. Thanks for the lesson on Jap. vs. Euro. cars, but I've already learned my lesson the hard way.

actually to tell you the truth i drive a toyota corolla thats going on to 206K. Its not about how many miles are on the car its about how you treat it. Beat on it and it will beat on you. Take care of it and it will take care of you.

the s60 is fast but it's a needy car, go with the 850's and you'll be happy, i modded mine and it's up to 280 hp with only chip upgrade and 2.5 cat back exhaust. super cheap. super nice, super easy to work on, what else do you need?

The S60 R absolutely runs game interms of bang for buck, the adjustable suspension seals the deal. I crush G35's in mine all day

ive had a g35 and now i have the volvo s60r the G35 is a better everyday car. Its smoother riding and easy to handle. The volvo in its advanced suspension and transmision mode is a Pure sports car and much faster then then the G its been tested stock 0-60 in 5.3 about a second faster then the G..sorry bro I loved the G and still do but the Volvo is faster.
First off, the G35 ...( 10 months ago by sleeksilver)
First off, the G35 with a manual IS faster and it doesn't pull boost and timing like crazy when the temperatures rise. A stock S60R is NOT fast.
Second, you need to stop basing your reliability info from past Volvos (pre 1990), they are terrible now. Consumer Reports agrees, people complain nonstop on Swedespeed, and two Volvos has been LEMONED where I work. That speaks volumes about reliability.

With two cars so close in performance, it comes down to the driver. G35s are overrated and as commonplace as Corollas. Rs are a rare sight to behold.
I completely agree ...( 5 months ago by sleeksilver)
I completely agree it is nice to own a unique vehicle, but I would choose something other than a S60R.
I had an extended test drive two years ago with a 2006 Electric Silver R and I was not impressed. Newer Volvos are not reliable, and I was more impressed with the Acura TL with a 6 speed than the S60R.
BTW, it always comes down to the driver.

Hey, to each his own. Without ever driving a car with anywhere near as much torque or horsepower, I was blown away with the R. I still am blown away every time I get to drive my dad's. The thing rips from a standstill and corners as if it wasn't a huge 4 door sedan. Volvo's reliability as of late is questionable, I agree, particularly in the electronics department, but that's why leasing is attractive. As far as the Acura goes, I'm quite a fan of the TL-S. Just a shame about its FWD.

Volvo's drivetrains are top notch. Volvo engines like the 5 cylinder found in the R are tried and true. Recently Volvo has had a few electrical issues but what actually matters will run forever, the engine, transmission, ect.

Yea you can't compare an 04 to an 08. That just doesn't work. The 04's were a little quirky but most issues got fixed in the 05 model.
